Giving Back

Providing the Ability and Resources to Help

Most great efforts call for great leadership. If we see there is a place and a means to give back, it is an opportunity for each of us to take a leadership role. Scherrer has provided time and treasure to promote valuable projects, worldwide, and has a strong history of giving back.

Preserving Computer History

Scherrer team members have jumped in to preserve, display and educate on the topic of the wonderful impact that computing has had on all our lives at the Compuseum. Together, we share a common dream to shed light on the resourcefulness of man's imagination and entrepreneurship.  Those early pioneering creations of ENIAC, EDVAC, the performances at UNISYS and the excursions of Exxon Office Systems, SunGard and Commodore established this geographic region once and for all as what we like to call the "crucible of the computer age".  Like Bletchley Park, Silicon Valley and Boston's early computer corridor this East Coast geographic region stands at the center of computing greatness where we've reached for the sky and disrupted a world tethered to analog and paper and thus ennobled civilization to take its next grand leap. At www.TheCompuseum.org you can see a wonderful world of computing history unfolding upon us all. Whether you are a business looking to support the future success of technology or a beneficiary of the world of computing wanting to give back, or a citizen who wants to make a difference in the world, the Compuseum offers ways to give by donating with credit card or direct debit at www.TheCompuseum.org using the "Donate" button.

Promoting Democracy and Good Governance

Democracy involves the right of the people freely to determine their own destiny. The exercise of this right requires a system that guarantees freedom of expression, belief and association, free and competitive elections, respect for the inalienable rights of individuals and minorities, free communications media, and the rule of law. Scherrer supports the charitable works of the International Bundesbrief Society, whose mission is to foster democracy, constitutional liberty and scholarship and is found at the web site www.Bundesbrief.org and gratefully accepts your tax deductible contributions as a 501c3 public charity. Remember that authoritarian regimes that use guns to control elections have an unfair advantage; and the Society aims to level the playing field by promoting open elections, transparency, candidate support, constitutional writing, education and good governance. Whether you are a business looking to support the future success of democracy in your area, a beneficiary of good laws and courts wanting to give back, or a citizen who wants to make a difference in the world, the Society offers ways to give by donating with credit card or direct debit at www.Bundesbrief.org.

STEM Education

STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics — in an interdisciplinary and applied approach. Scherrer provides STEM educational support by way of lectures on the history of computing, science, engineering, geology, mathematics and applied sciences.
